Ensuring cohesion in a society that is drifting apart

The legal scholar in the role of a cultural scientist. Professor Daniel Thym, a legal scholar, will head the research initiative “Kulturelle Dynamiken der Gegenwartsgesellschaft” (the cultural dynamics of present-day society) at the University of Konstanz.

Daniel Thym is a principal investigator at the Cluster of Excellence “Cultural Foundations of Integration” in Konstanz. In the video he talks with cultural scientist Dr Özkan Ezli about what keeps society together. The two discuss topics ranging from the role of the German Basic Law to the question of what integration means.

On 11 and 12 October, the Cluster of Excellence “Cultural Foundations of Integration” hosted a conference on the topic “Verfassungspatriotismus in der Migrationsgesellschaft” (constitutional patriotism in a migration society) which focused on the “Kulturelle Dynamiken der Gegenwartsgesellschaft” (the cultural dynamics of present-day society).
